Increasing tomatoes yield

The purpose of the experiment was to determine the most favorable method of using the BIOCHLOFEED bioproduct to increase the yield of tomatoes and obtain high-quality finished products.

The objectives of the experiment included:

  • Conduct a small-plot experiment gray-earth soils with sowing tomatoes;
  • Conduct related observations and records;
  • Determine the yield of tomatoes;
  • Calculate the economic efficiency of using an aqueous solution of the bioproduct BIOCHLOFEED in various concentrations

Description of the experiment

The experiment was conducted on the grey-earth soil of the experimental farm “Khavat Eden” (Israel). The length of each garden bed was 5 m. 12 tomato bushes (seedlings) were manually planted in each bed. We used tomato seeds of the "Ikram" variety.

Sowing was carried out on October 16, 2023. During the growing season, the timing of the onset of phenological phases was taken into account, which did not differ significantly among the experimental variants. Tomato harvesting was carried out from January 13 to March 31, 2024 by manually picking fruits from each bed, weighing and recording the total number of tomatoes collected.

Option one (Control):

Sowing tomatoes according to the usual scheme without adding the bioproduct BIOCHLOFEED (control).

Option two:

Sowing tomatoes with the addition of an aqueous solution of the biological product BIOCHLOFEED in a concentration of 1:2 at the rate of 10 liters of aqueous solution once a week.

Option three:
Sowing tomatoes with the addition of an aqueous solution of the biological product BIOCHLOFEED in a concentration of 1:5 at the rate of 10 liters of aqueous solution once a week.

Improved tomatoes crop structure

The data from our experimental studies showed that the addition of an aqueous solution of the bioproduct BIOCHLOFEED in concentrations of 1:5 and 1:2 significantly improved the conditions for growing tomatoes. This was manifested in an increase in tillering and tomato ripening speed, yield and improvement in the quality and taste of ripened tomatoes compared to control. Thus, the introduction of an aqueous solution of the bioproduct BIOCHLOFEED in concentrations of 1:5 and 1:2 increased the number of flowers in each bed by 65 and 102 pieces, respectively; increased the number of ripened tomatoes in each bed is 43 and 68 pcs., respectively; increased the average weight of 1 tomato is 1 and 19 grams, respectively, compared to control.

Productivity is the main indicator of the use of a particular fertilizer or biological product. The highest tomato yield was in the second option, where an aqueous solution of BIOCHLOFEED was used in a concentration of 1:2. At the same time, the yield was 48.8 kg, which is 15 kg (44%!!!) higher compared to the control option.

efficiency

In crop production, economic efficiency is manifested in increased yields, as well as improved quality of products, which ultimately increases the price of its sale. In our case, we determined the economic efficiency of growing tomatoes by the following indicators: yield; production costs; unit cost of production; net profit; level of profitability.The greatest economic efficiency was obtained when using an aqueous solution of BIOCHLOFEED in a concentration of 1:2 - for every 1 euro invested in a BIOCHLOFEED bioproduct, the farmer receives 2.5 euros of income.

Main conclusions:

  • Adding an aqueous solution of BIOCHLOFEED to the soil in a concentration of 1:2 and 1:5 has a positive effect on the agrochemical and agrophysical properties of the soil and helps increase its fertility.
  • Based on the conducted research, it can be stated that the use of an aqueous solution of BIOCHLOFEED, especially in a concentration of 1:2, under production conditions when growing tomatoes will significantly improve the quality and taste of products and their yield.
  • Calculation of economic efficiency showed that the use of an aqueous solution of BIOCHLOFEED, especially in a concentration of 1:2, when growing tomatoes in greenhouses contributes to a significant increase in the level of profitability of farms, as the main indicator of economic efficiency.
