Treatment of settling pond Balashikha (Moscow region)
The objectives of the experiment included:
- Carry out biological remediation of the pond using biotechnology BIOCHLOFEEDⓇ ;
- Conduct related observations and records;
- Treat pond water from organic pollutants and pathogenic microflora;
- Eliminate the smell of hydrogen sulfide in the pond;
- Improve the appearance and recreational properties of the pond.
Description of the experiment
Before introducing the BIOCHLOFEEDⓇ bioproduct into the pond, as well as during the pilot project from May to September 2021 (once a month) and after its completion, specialists from the Chemical Research Center (Moscow) took water samples for analysis for COD, organic pollutants (P , Nt, NO2, NO3, NH4, Norg), on pathogenic microflora (Escherichia coli), on the amount of oxygen dissolved in water.
On May 5, 2021, our specialists, using a boat, evenly applied the bioproduct BIOCHLOFEEDⓇ in a volume of 150 liters along the entire perimeter of the storage pond.
Before adding the bioproduct BIOCHLOFEEDⓇ, the water in the pond was of very poor quality. Large amounts of E. coli and ammonium were detected. Throughout the entire area there was an unbearable, stinking smell of hydrogen sulfide, which, when the wind direction changed, spread to nearby residential areas. Also in August-September, blue-green algae began to bloom in the pond in recent years.
After adding the biological product BIOCHLOFEEDⓇ , the problem with blue-green algae was completely resolved and the pond did not “bloom” in 2021. By the beginning of June 2021, the smell of hydrogen sulfide had completely disappeared. The results of water tests for organic pollutants and pathogenic microflora showed full compliance with sanitary standards. The water in the pond became more transparent, the number of fish in the pond (pike, roach) increased.
On September 15, 2021, the pilot project was considered successful and ended.
Fight against cyanobacteria
Removal of organic pollutants
Destruction of pathogenic microflora
Main conclusions:
- Despite the difficult conditions (constant flow of sewage into the pond), the method has proven to be effective and environmentally friendly.
- In addition to its main objective (control of blue-green algae, organic pollutants and pathogens), the method has demonstrated the ability to significantly improve the appearance and recreational qualities of the pond.
- Cost-effectiveness calculations have proven that there is no economic alternative to BIOCHLOFEEDⓇ biotechnology for sewage treatment. .
